Basta lang makuha ug makakaon lang me
Busa gikuha ug nikaon me…

Fight Rabies!!!

June 13, 2008

Rabid Signs

In Animals - There are three phases in the course of rabies. Death occurse three to sven days after smptoms appear.

1. Prodromal stage (two to three days),

  • Behavioral changes, fever, slow eye reflexes, and chewing at the bite bite.

2. Furious stage (two to four days).

  • Erratic behavior which includes irritability, restlessness, barking, agression, vicious attacks on inanimate objects, and unexplained roaming;; disorientation and seizures may develop.

3. Paralytic stage (two to four days).

  • Signs of paralysis develop, usually beginning at the bite site; paralysis of the throat and face cause a change in the bark, drooling with typical foaming at the mouth (hydrophobia), and a dropped jaw; followed by depression, coma and death from respiratory paralysis (inability to breathe).

In Humans - In the unthinkable event that a person is bitten by a rabid animal and is not treated promptly, the following sequence will ensue:

  • The incubation period (time from exposure to rabies virus to start of illness) ranges from five days to more than one year, but the average is four weeks.
  • Vague Symptoms, lasting from two to ten days appear-fever, headache malaise (not feeling well), lack of appetite, and vomiting. There may also be pain, itching or numbess and tingling at the site of the wound.
  • The person often develops difficulty in swallowing ("foaming at the mouth" caused by inability to swallow saliva). Even the sight of water may terrify the person this is hydrophobia or the morbid fear of water.

Some become agitated and disoriented, while other become paralyzed. The person either dies during this stage or goes into coma and dies from further complications.

Stress Less

June 8, 2008

How can you prevent the holiday season from becoming the stress sesason? Here rae some suggestion from counselors specializing in stress management:

1. Remember the true nature of the holiday season. You do not "have to" go shopping, cook mountains of food, attend every function etc. Celebrate in ways you and your family enjoy.

2. Prioritize tasks - which ones need your attention, which can you safely delegate to others?

3. If you feel that you cannot afford to buy presents for everyone, announce in advance that you won’t be buying gifts this year or that you will only be giving small ‘token’ gifts. Alternatively, why not suggest that your family practices Christkindle - each family member buys a gift only for one other family member, chosen by drawing lots.

4. Remember those who truly need gifts, volunteering for community service, donating gifts and money to charitable organizations can do more to lift your spirits during the holiday season than an entire carload of presents you really don’t need.

5. Express love for family and friends in more direct ways than presetns. Asl most people what presents they received for Christmas last year and they don’t remember. But ask most people about the good times they have had with family and friends and many will remember events from years ago. So show your love by spending quality time with family and friends this year.

6. Initiate once act of peace making with family and friends, forget about quarels you may have had with friends and family over the past year.

7. Ladies, be realistic, remember that times have changed. Much holiday stress comes from memories of how mother or grandmother pallend and prepared for the perfect holiday weeks in advance. But, mother and grandmother probably did’nt juggle a home with a demanding job, hectic social life, and modern teenages. So, loose the guild!

Cigars and Pipes better than cigarettes

May 28, 2008

Cigarette smokers who are unable to kick the habit may be better switching to cigars and pipes. In a recent issue of the British Medical Journal, researchers reported that in a long-term study of over 6,000 men, some 500 men who switched from cigarettes to pipes or cigars, were half as likely to have died from lung cancer, heart disease or chronic lung disease than the nearly 4,000 men who continued to smoke cigarettes. However, those who switched were still at higher risk of dying of heart disease or lung cancer than the nearly 1,300 men who only smoked pipes or cigars and never cigarettes.

Ways to improve the quality of rice, a staple of the Filipinos’ diet, have been undertaken by the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) in Loas Baños, Laguna. The IRRI has introduced methods to fortify reice with essential nutrients such as iron and vitamin A during the milling process ot improve its nutritional profile. The IRRI has also been developing hybrid and disease-resistant rice varieties.

anyone! who stole her magic?

May 10, 2008

have you ever thought of going some place far far away where you never had to outgrow each other, where you never have to worry of people leaving and anticipate the day of their comeback, where no one’s going away and no one’s left behind.. everything is at a standstill, things are constant and you need not worry of what will happen next.. the feeling of security and assurance entices us that we immediately pack our bags and head to wherever that sanctuary is.. no questions asked.. most of us will do things within and even out of our reach just to savor the last saving grace, the hope of finding that refuge.. we may admit it or not but once in while, we dream of that perfect place, a place of people who will always be there for us and who will never leave us no matter what.. with that, we never have to wander alone and journey in solitude.. but then, even if how much we look up and wish for the first star we see at night, toss coins in all the wishing wells in town and sit down in a place full of trees and wait for that single leaf to fall on our head just so we can have that one wish, life, as we all know it, is not merely made up of dreams and wishes that we fantasize day and night.. you grow up and suddenly you realize that you’re no longer that kid who can smile with just an ice cream even if the whole world is crumbling down right before your very eyes..you realize that you’re no longer that little child who can run up to daddy and hear the words, "things will be ok sweetie..".. things go by so fast and before you even know it, you suddenly have to face things, ALONE.. everything used to fit perfectly, just like how a glass slipper fits in cinderella’s foot..however, little by little, life was torn and everything was broken into shattered pieces.. no inspiration to jump, dance and sing, no passion to get things done and no drive to go for that extra mile.. what happened to that little girl who used to be so full of dreams, hopes and ambitions..what happened to that kid who was once a believer of good things and happy endings.. what happened to the fairy tale life she had always dreamt of?? what happened? and who stole her magic?..

Paramore

Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams has dismissed reports the band is to split - despite canceling the remainder of their European tour over "internal issues." The 19-year-old singer posted a message, signed by all four band members, on her blog on Thursday announcing the group needed to take time off to work out their personal problems.

But Williams has since updated her blog, insisting her comments were taken out of proportion.

She writes, "Since we posted the last entry, we’ve gotten tons of phone calls and people posting things on Web sites saying that we are breaking up. I just want to make it clear, though… we weren’t saying the band was over. We posted because we are going through hard times and we felt that because we have a really good support system in you guys, our fans, it would be better for us to just be honest about what’s going on - even though it was a pretty vague explanation."

And the flame-haired star has refuted allegations the tour cancellation was caused by her falling pregnant.

Williams adds, "Man, some of the rumors that I’ve heard going around are insane! It’s weird how out of hand things can get even when you just try to tell a simple truth (for the record, my Eggo is not preggo). Anyway, we just need to take time to make this band the best it can be… and we are doing that now."

A spokesperson for Atlantic Records has confirmed Paramore are still scheduled to tour with Jimmy Eat World in April in the U.S.

I woke up because someone knocks on our door and I found it is Mr. Badjang the councilor of our barangay then we talk and after that he give me a letter for our barangay saying that a meeting on segregating our trashcans so that we will know what to do. The barangay called this meeting so that we will know what to do and they will sell the useful trash such as empty bottles, box, and etc. Whew I think I have to go back to sleep because I am still so sleepy. Have a nice day!
