Reason why parents are overprotective?
January 4, 2009Parents who are insecure with themselves project their insecurity to their children by being overprotective. This stunts the growth of children in relating to the outside environment.
A family is a system open to influences from the outside world. So when paretns put out too many rules that are rigid and suffocating, the give their chidlren no room for growth outside the home as they are now allowed to interact with others. Parents should realize this: The ony love that has separation as its goal is ‘parental’ love. This means when you love your child, your goal is to separate from him eventually. This would prepare the child to be his own person, and once he’s out from you, he can survive on his own.
