How to improve the quality of rice
February 19, 2009Ways to improve the quality of rice, a staple of the Filipinos’ diet, have been undertaken by the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) in Loas Baños, Laguna. The IRRI has introduced methods to fortify reice with essential nutrients such as iron and vitamin A during the milling process ot improve its nutritional profile. The IRRI has also been developing hybrid and disease-resistant rice varieties.
