It will took seven years to pass through the chewing gum to the human digestive system.
March 28, 2009There’s nothing to support this rumor. No matter how sticky chewing gum might appear to be outside the body, once it’s sendt down the digestive system, it would surely come out in the end. Gum is eliminated as human waste in the same way as any other swallowed matter.
It’s certainly not food. About 15% to 30% of chewing gum is gum base, a natural or synthetic indigestible rubbery substance that makes the treat resilient to hours of jawing. Vegetable oil derivatives can be added to keep gum soft. Glycerin maintains moistness. Sorbitol and mannitol add sweetness to sugarless gum, and the latter, along with starch, is often used to dust the gum. Artificial and natural flavorings, colorings, perservatives, sugar, saccharin or corn syrup, can also be added.
